I understand that the council is proposing to ballot local businesses to see if they will be willing to contribute (via a supplement to their business rates) to the expenditure needed for the World Cup bid. If the council believes that local businesses will be willing to do that, you would think that at least some of those same companies might be willing to invest in the stadium without which the entire World Cup bid is dead in the water.TonyDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01419247851163118883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2832448906499949997.post-61216729328415966592010-01-07T22:02:52.751+00:002010-01-07T22:02:52.751+00:00It wouldn't even need BCC cash Tony. There are...It wouldn't even need BCC cash Tony. There are a lot of private investors who might take a punt on a concrete asset like a new stadium. It wouldn't need many either to fill the legendary gap between revenue raised by the supermarket and that by an alternative development. Which begs the question why put the whole deal, including the £250Ms we will supposedly see spent in the area for the WC, at risk for a few measly Million? What does maxing the income from Ashton Gate provide that either public or other private investors cannot give? Why would the club leave themselves at the mercy of a supermarket company that stands to gain even if it stays where it is?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2832448906499949997.post-76283182102849462552010-01-07T17:47:18.034+00:002010-01-07T17:47:18.034+00:00So are you a well-informed insider who isn't p...So are you a well-informed insider who isn't peripheral? if so, who are you?Charlie Boltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18030998819925082870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2832448906499949997.post-10390437491338937932010-01-07T10:37:43.971+00:002010-01-07T10:37:43.971+00:00Dreamed-up, fantasy-land, spurious, codswallop!
